Accident Claims Bradley Woman

A two vehicle accident on east Hwy 19 claimed the life of a Bradley woman on Wednesday. Darlene Havens Brown, 34, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 19 near County Line Rd when she struck the back of a Ford F-350 which had stopped to negotiate a turn, according to a preliminary report by Trooper Stan McConnell.  Also at the scene were two Lindsay Police officers, including Chief Eric Dodson, a Lindsay Fire truck and a Rescue unit.

The trooper cited Brown’s inattention to driving as the cause of collision.  Brown expired at the scene due to internal injuries.

According to an eye witness account, Brown was traveling at a high rate of speed, "she was going too fast to stop," and that the driver of the truck attempted to apply his break to stop the moving vehicle.  "The engine cut into Brown's body and blood spilled into the floor board," the eyewitness related.  The Lindsay Police Report states that Brown's vehicle left skid marks measuring 250 feet.
